Roberto De Zerbi is determined to turn Mason Greenwood into one of Marseille's all-time greats as the striker rebuilds his career in France.

Greenwood has enjoyed a standout debut season with 17 goals in all competitions following a time away from football due to legal reasons. Despite his form, De Zerbi has pushed the 22-year-old to raise his work rate and consistency as he adapts to being a central figure in a physically demanding campaign.

Greenwood, who left Manchester United following serious allegations that were later dropped, signed a long-term deal with Marseille until 2029. His arrival last summer sparked controversy among fans, but his performances have gradually won over many at the Velodrome.

Marseille's manager sees Greenwood as a natural talent capable of joining the ranks of club icons like Jean-Pierre Papin and Dimitri Payet.

While Paris Saint-Germain's Ousmane Dembele has outpaced him in the golden boot race, Greenwood remains a key part of Marseille's push for Champions League qualification. De Zerbi's project goes beyond results — he aims to build a team with spirit and identity, with Greenwood at the heart of it.
